The system requirements are a touch on the high side, or so they feel to someone like me who only just upgraded from my old 900 series GPU. "These features can be used beyond game broadcasting as well-from video conferencing at home with Zoom, to gaming with friends on Discord." "Not everyone has the luxury of a dedicated home studio, or can afford expensive cameras, microphones and greenscreens to improve their production quality," Nvidia say in their announcement post. Their new Nvidia Broadcast application is made for removing annoying noises and messy home offices from the background of your morning work calls or evening livestreaming sessions. There's a list of good EQ's here for a variety of headphones, check it out if you're interested.ĮDIT: Oh any by the way, you may need to run the Configurator again after a Windows-update.If you need to wrest back some control over your environment in these unprecedented times, as they say, Nvidia have launched a new app for that. Give it a try and see if your mic picks up keyboard noise or suchĮqualizer APO is a very versatile program so there's a lot of room for improving sound in general, both for microphones and headphones/speakers. Select the "config.txt" tab (or open it from C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config) and include the configuration you just saved in the previous step.Press the green plus icon and select Plugins -> VST plugin and locate the librnnoise_vst.dll.Press the green plus icon and select Control -> Device and select your microphone in order to ensure the filter is only applied to the microphone.Start up Configuration Editor (Equalizer APO) and create a new config (File -> New).Download and unpack the Noise Suppression Plugin (64/32-bit) and make sure to copy librnnoise_vst.dll (from the vst folder) to an accessible folder.Installing the plugin and applying the filter You can start this configurator later if you want to add more devices After installing, it will launch a configurator which will let you select the device(s) you want to use with Equalizer APO - microphones are listed under Capture devices.Download and install Equalizer APO (64/32-bit), latest version is currently 1.2.1.There's a handy guide over at Medium (with screenshots and everything!), but I can explain the installation process briefly here: I recommend giving this tool a try and seeing for yourself if it's useful or not! Even if you won't hear yourself in a call, some form of noise-cancelling can make your voice more clear and easier to hear for others. It doesn't matter if you have a cheap or expensive microphone, a microphone picks up a lot of things you probably don't want it to so a bit of tweaking can go a long way. And I gotta say the result is very impressive! It's also very easy to set up. RTX Voice, while great, is limited to Nvidia GPUs and needs to be run manually each time I want to use it so it wasn't very convenient to me, so I decided to look into other alternatives and found RNNoise, or rather "Real-time Noise Suppression Plugin" which is a plugin based on RNNoise. I tried things such as RTX Voice, a few built-in options in Discord and custom EQ. While it's not a big issue it's something that can easily be alleviated, so this got me into tweaking my own microphone setup a bit. ![]() Like a lot of people I've been using Zoom and Discord a lot for the past year due to the pandemic, for gaming as well as studying, and the sound of fans, keyboard noise or cars driving by has been a constant distraction during this time. ![]()
